The Joni Project Asbury Park Concert reviews
Disappointed
I’ve been a decades-long fan of The Joni Project, but their tickets were always just out of my budget. This year, I received a very generous birthday gift in the form of tickets to finally see my beloved rappers. I was thrilled for this rare chance, especially upon learning that Busta Rhymes would also be there!
My mask was a necessity due to the smokers surrounding us at the last show we attended (disregarding the “no smoking” rule)--inhaling smoke is detrimental to my lung cancer. Unfortunately, this time, there were so many people smoking around us that my mask proved ineffective. I soon developed a headache, experienced lung pain, and struggled to breathe and remain upright. We had to vacate our seats so I could get some fresh air, ultimately being compelled to exit the venue. Fortunately, my husband located a compassionate EMT with extra N-95 masks, which provided some relief, but regrettably, we had missed most of The Joni Project’s second performance in the interim.
If the venue won't enforce the "no smoking" rule, it would be beneficial if they designated a smoke-free section for individuals like me who cannot endure smoke inhalation. I had been eagerly anticipating this event for months, but I departed feeling incredibly let down. This was a unique experience for me, and I was unable to fully enjoy it due to my lung cancer.
